Concrete, Grout, and FTB Sample Collection Instructions

CONTACT BASALT RIDGE FOR PILOT PINS BEFORE POURING SAMPLES!

We will promptly send you pilot pins.

Pilot pins are removed at Basalt Ridge before testing and provide the highest possible accuracy by ensuring proper probe-sample thermal contact.

1.    Prepare 3 cylinders from each mix. 3”x6” or 4”x8” cylinder molds are preferred.

2.    Insert 1 pilot pin coated with petroleum grease into the center of the uncured sample shortly after pouring. Please insert the full length of the pilot pin, but do not bury the head.

3.    Pilot pins can be inserted through the mold lid or thin sheet of plastic to prevent the pin from sinking into the uncured mix.

4.    Please cap and tape the sample mold lid to prevent evaporation.

5.    Mark all samples with mix identification.

6.    Securely package samples to prevent damage during shipping.

7.    Samples can be shipped after 24-36 hours of curing period.

8.    Include completed Sample Information Sheets, Signed Thermal Service Request Form, and any desired Chain of Custody documentation with samples

Ship all samples in a sturdy box, bucket, or container to:
